What are the “Consonant Dialogues”?

The Consonant Dialogues were initiated by the Marcosur Feminist Articulation (AFM) to enable feminist organizations and networks in Latin America and the Caribbean to play a more active role in the aid effectiveness debate. They were designed to provide a space for dialogue and reflection between the different bodies of the Spanish Cooperation and the variety of women’s organizations of our region looking for the “consonances” that made possible greater support to the feminist agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Three Consonant Dialogues have been organized to date. In June 2008, the first Consonant Dialogues were held in Montevideo, Uruguay; the II Consonant Dialogues for the Andean countries were organized in Lima, Peru, in April 2010. Finally, in September 2010 the III Consonant Dialogues for Central America took place in Antigua, Guatemala.
As part of the agreements taken in Antigua, the IV Consonant Dialogues were focused on the Caribbean region. They were held in the Dominican Republic from Monday June 27th, 2011 to Thursday June 30th, 2011.
